The
Lodge at Yellow Creek was built in 1943 and has since under gone several remodling
projects. Inititally built as the owner's main house on a vast cotton plantation,
years evolved and farming changed. Even in these early years, there was bountiful
game of Deer, Quail, Turkey, Rabbits, Ducks and more.
The original
farm was known as Walnut Grove Plantation as there were vast quantities
of walnut trees growing on the farm. One hundred year old walnut trees
still reside, but in far fewer numbers. The name Yellow Creek Ranch comes
from the creek that runs through the farm.
Now
the house has been converted with modern conveniences while still retaining
that old southern charm. Facilities now include 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, statelite
TV, full kitchen, laundry and dining area with capability of sleeping
eight to ten hunters comfortably. Hunters and vistors enjoy sitting on
the front porch and enjoying a view of the lake in front with ducks flying
in, quail calling and deer crossing the fields late in evening.
The lodge
sleeps up to ten and also available for weekend rentals during the summer
and fall football season. Fishing is also offered to those renting for
the weekend. Please see our photo page for more photos of inside of the
lodge.
